Isaac Sloan

In an age where all music blends together into meaninglessness and cluttered polyphony I strive to write music that has a complex simplicity to it. Music that you can enjoy and yet sift beauty and meaning from.

Without a doubt modern music is more technical but is that what music is about? Music is about feeling... Not voice and tempo correction. A wise man once said, "Where words fail music speaks." Music isn't about perfection. Thats what grammar class and piano lessons are for. Music is about you and me, about how you feel, about how I feel; it's expression in language that transcends the limitations of culture and conformity.

I strive continuously for a better sound, but I've stood in the footsteps of thousands of legendary musicians both coexisting and historic and have been fortunate enough to create a style I like. All of you who like it as well, thank you so very very much.

I am Isaac Sloan, I'm my music, my music is me, and I'm yours. Love me.

The Truth At Any Cost - Wikileaks

December 11th, 2010 + 5:12 AM  ·  Ike

New song I'm hoping to record this weekend while the nets are still buzzing about wikileaks. Any suggestions or help on a chorus would be greatly appreciated. Let me know what you think.

Thanks, Ike

The Truth At Any Cost

There was a man who wrote the truth
about governments and war
But the truth exposed the liers
for the criminals they were
He should be assassinated
some like sarah palin swore

Then the credit cards and paypal
and webhosts joined the fight
They only cared about their money
Not free speech or peoples rights
So they choose to please the powerful
Instead of freedom, truth or light

So thanks for the truth (So tell us I say)
Of the lives they've destroyed
Of you children they've killed
While they play with their toys
Of the pleasure they got
from the blood, bombs and noise

They say that your a traitor
But you're a hero to me
You risked your own life
So the truth could be free
Good luck bradley manning
You were braver than me (long live freedom of speech)

Brave men died for their country
but the leaders didn't care
In their twisted lies and war games
these deaths were more than fair
now there's a site call wikileaks
That puts these secrets out to air

With Julian Assange in jail
some think the fight is lost
But we won't give up that easy
We want the truth at any cost
Some scandals don't just go away
Some Dirty laundry can't be tossed

We want the truth at any fucking cost

Wikileaks Anthem

January 12th, 2011 + 2:01 AM  ·  Ike

"Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter."  ~ Thomas Jefferson, 1787.

Lyrics

There was a man who wrote the truth
about governments and war
But the truth exposed the liers
for the criminals they were
We should hunt him down and murder him
Some like sarah palin swore

Then the credit cards and paypal
and webhosts joined the fight
But they only cared for money
Not free speech or peoples rights
So they choose to please the powerful
Instead of freedom, truth or light

[Chorus]
So come on anonymous
bring down the walls
When knowledge is free
Humanity can stand tall

Well they say that your a traitor
But you are a hero to me
You risked your life and liberty
So the truth could be free
I wish you luck bradley manning
You were braver than me

Brave men died for their country
but the leaders didn't care
In their twisted lies and war games
these deaths were more than fair
now there's a site call wikileaks
That puts these secrets out to air

[Chorus]

With Julian Assange in jail
some think the fight is lost
But we won't give up easily
We want the truth at any cost
Some scandals don't just go away
Dirty laundry can't be tossed

During the Aftermath

During the Aftermath by Isaac Sloan

C G Am F C G

C
Seems like only yesterday
F                       C
That I was living in the city
G                        F                           C        G
Back before they all burned down that day
C
The ashes fell around me
F                       C
As I climbed out of the subway
G                                 F                        C         G
When I saw you there it took my breath away

You stepped out of the shadows
With a far away look in your eye
In the silence I could hear your breath as it fell
I walked (or strode) up beside you
And I whispered "it will be ok"
Then you took my hand I knew this wasn't hell

[Chorus]

Am             C
The orphan kids make
F                                   G
mushroom cloud shaped snowmen
Am           C                           G
As we lay close together in the snow
Am                C
If those cities hadn't burned
F                    G
I wouldn't have you
Am                  C                            G
And I promise that i'll never let you go
F        G        C
Never let you go

You light my day like the sun did
Which is good cause it never shines
And your body keeps me warm in the freezing air
the snow falls through the roof sometimes
The fire flickers but we don't mind
I smile and brush the crystals from your hair

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
C        Em  Dm  C  G                      Am
These feel..ings we feel, love never dies
          C   Am  G   F                         C
These feelings we feel, they keep us alive (these)

Chorus]

Remember the Good Times

August 18th, 2010 + 4:08 AM  ·  Ike

I was approached by a local musician and asked to collaborate on and sing a song he was working on. This is the result. Overall I'm satisfied with the result. Let me know what you think and what you would do differently. Thanks a lot.

Something New

June 26th, 2010 + 9:06 PM  ·  Ike

This song is completely different than anything I've ever done before. Please tell me what you think. Keep in mind that this is only semi final. I've only done a little bit with eq and mixing and nothing with pan.

Something New

Yesterday you slept in
You missed a class or two
Well I don't think you're lazy
Sometimes I feel a lot like you

I'm tired of doing homework
Seems like all I ever do
guess we have a lot in common
Looks like you need to party too

[Chorus]
Lets do something new
Seems like all we ever do... is the same thing
Lets do something new
Now and the weeks here to... its the same thing
I want to do something new (for || with || to) you.

You laugh and say I'm funny
But you hope its not a joke
Well I won't let you down
so you needn't give up hope

You say lets go to my place
I say it isn't very far
We can have some fun
I'll let you play with my guitar

[Chorus]

You move like your on fire
Have you ever heard this song?
I remember when you got here
You said you wouldn't be here long.

I like the way you smile
It looks good with your clothes
If you keep this up I
might not spend the night alone

Close your eyes (with me)

March 18th, 2009 + 3:03 AM  ·  Ike

Hey please tell me what you think of this song. What do you think of the mix and the pan. Any idea's on the EQ? I know the drum track sort of sucks... I'm not a very good at drums. I think I might have my friend redo those. So don't really worry about commenting on them.

Any suggestions for the name would be appreciated too. So far I'm between With Me, Close Your Eyes, Don't Be Afraid and Victorian. Other suggestions would be good too.

Thanks a lot for all your help both now and in the past.
